Annie Ruth Tyra

Annie Ruth Tyra (nee Justice), of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois passed away at home March 12, 2026. She was born March 1, 1942.

Annie previously lived in Beach Park, Illinois. Annie married very young in Mississippi before moving to Illinois. She received her nursing degree from the College of Lake County in 1971. Annie was employed at the VA in North Chicago, Illinois, several nursing homes in the area and the Wright Home in Gurnee, Illinois. She also worked as a real estate agent for Century 21 in Waukegan, Illinois.

Annie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, She loved her pets and everyone else's pet's as well. She was a believer, and carried a strong faith. She always faced her life, sorrows, and problems with courage.

She is survived by her children, Diana Mundstock and Kimberlee Medici; grandchildren, Jacob (Mary) Mundstock, Anthony Medici, Nicole Tyra, and Kyle Tyra; great grandchildren, Jaxson and Olivia Mundstock; daughter-in-law, Regina Tyra; and cats, Cymba and Pistol.

She was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Tyra, her ex husband and life long friend, Kenneth M. Tyra; mother, Cuber Maybelle Welch; uncle, Guy Walker; and aunt, Lily Walker.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL starting at 5:00 p.m. until the start of service at 6:00 p.m..
