Clifford McLellan

1930 — April 20, 2008

Clifford D. McLellan, 77, of Zion, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. He was born May 6, 1930, in Lake Forest, the youngest of eight children, to Mr.and Mrs. William McLellan. Clifford had resided in Lake Forest, Waukegan, Winthrop Harbor and Zion. He was formerly employed by E.J &E. Railroad, AmmcoTools, Fansteel,Johnson Outboards, and was retired from H.M.T. Manufacturing Inc. in North Chicago. After Cliff retired, he continued to work part time as a machinist. He met his late wife, Corette Cockrell Ray while working at Fansteel and they were married in October of 1955. Cliff accepted Christ at the former First Baptist Church of Zion and transferred his membership to the First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor and served in many offices at that church. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving his country in the United States Air Force, obtaining the rank of Staff Sgt. Survivors include four grandchildren, Ronnie D. Ray of Florida, Robin (Jimmy) Helton of Winder, GA, Laurie (Philip Todd) Allen of Woodstock, GA, and Anna-Cory (Chris) Flament of Waukegan, IL; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Jessica, and Justin Helton of Winder, GA, and Taylor and Makenzie Allen of Woodstock, GA; sister, Marguerite Louise Mitrikeff of Cherokee Village, AR; a dear friend that he loved very much, Mary Lee Gebhart of Waukegan, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in this country and in Scotland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corette; his parents; three sisters, Margaret McLellan, Louretta Gibson and Pearl Livingston; three brothers, Kenneth, William and Raymond McLellan; and several other relatives, in this country and Scotland. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 25, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Pastor Michael Brown of the First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Thursday, April 24, 2008, from 5:00-8:00 pm. at the funeral home.
