Obituary of Bill A Adcock Sr.

Bill A. Adcock Sr. (“Pa”) 84 of Beach Park, IL passed peacefully March 17, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 12, 1931 in Moore County, Tennessee. He was a devoted Husband of one, Father of nine, Brother of seven, and most beloved “Pa” of eighty-eight. Billy was a proud patriarch of 88 beginning with nine of his own children who went on to bless him with 79 additions to his family tree. Bill was a proud patriotic Navy veteran who retired after serving our country for 22 years. He passed his patriotism down to his children to whom he taught the bonds of family and country to be held sacred and remain strong. He was an honest, hard working dedicated family man devoted to all he loved. He was never too busy or distracted to offer love, support, guidance or a helping hand to anyone above all his family. He enjoyed working in his garage listening to his vast collection of county & western music and drinking a Budweiser. He treasured the opportunities to fish and camp with his children and grandchildren or just visiting with them. He loved the game of baseball and was a longtime Boston Red Sox fan that enjoyed witnessing them break the 87 year curse of the Bambino in 04 to become World Series champions. He would watch them become champions two more times. Bill was proud to be a life member of VFW post 7448 in Winthrop Harbor where he could regularly be found surrounded by his many friends and fellow veterans, watching a game, playing some games or just reminiscing. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, three sisters Mary, Dorothy and Bobby Gene, a daughter Jakie (Bear) Wilkerson in Spotsylvania VA, a son Bob (Pat) Costa in New Bedford MA, a daughter Joann Costa in Union Grove AL, a daughter Gale (Mike) Salita in Clymer PA, a daughter Dorothy Adcock in Beach Park, IL a son Bill (Gail) in Burlington WI, a son Tim (Patty) in Winthrop Harbor, a daughter Stacy (Rich) Peters in Beach Park IL, he helped raise 1 grandson Jason (Joey) Adcock, 28 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death only 33 days earlier by his wife of 61 years Isabelle his one true love he was so dedicated to he could not live without. A son Billy and his wife Rita, a daughter Beverly, His parents James Lee Adcock and Addie Burrow, 1 sister Beaula Mae, 3 brothers, James, Neal and Thomas, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A Memorial will be held at the Winthrop Harbor VFW, 1112 Sheridan Road, Winthrop Harbor, IL on Saturday, June 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
